Our eBay accounts, themusicmama (and the doowopmusicman) were both suspended a few days ago for a violation of one of eBay's terms of operation. At this stage, we are still trying to figure out in what way their term was violated, and whilst eBay themselves have encouraged us to initiate a procedure to have both our accounts reinstated, we are not sure that we even want to be eBay powersellers anymore .
Themusicmama account had over 2300 positive feedback with an overall score of 100 pc and was operating on eBay since April 2006 whilst our other account, doowopmusicman had over 12000 (twelve thousand) positive feedback and was operating on eBay since April 2003. Many other powersellers, some who had been on eBay for even longer have also suffered the same fate.
We only joined eBay as sellers fairly recently. After all we had been in business long before, operating a successful mailing list business and websites. Thankfully, both activities were never discontinued, and in fact auction sales only amounted for a small percentage of our overall sales. We were in business before, during, and we are still in business.
If Ebay, as the largest ecommerce website on the planet can take actions such as suspending users without warning, irrespective of the good standings of said users, then businesses have to decide whether they can live with such a risk or not. At this time, we feel that the risk is too high.
It is worth pointing out that when a suspension does take place, it is not just the seller who is penalized, but also the buyers who have paid for their orders and have not yet received them..
